Grey replacement rubber Type Z ferrules from Country Canes. These 25mm heavy duty rubber ferrules are suitable for regular everyday use and feature good quality rubber and an integral washer to maintain shape and prevent wear to the crutch or walker shaft. Each ferrule weighs 67gms and the height of these replacement ferrules is 56mm and the base (contact area) measures approximately 42mm in diameter.

Crutch and walker ferrules typically take far more weight than a walking stick and should be checked regularly for any signs of wear and tear. A new rubber ferrule should last for 3+ months with depending upon use. As ferrules are mostly made of rubber they will degrade with age. A worn or split ferrule can easily lead to a slip or fall. Look for splits in the rubber or the contact area wearing thin.

Removing the old ferrule
Twist or rock the old ferrule to break the seal and then pull it off. As this can be difficult, it may be a good idea to ask someone strong to remove the original ferrule. It is just a little easier to remove the ferrule in a warm room. Do not throw the old ferrule away until you have successfully fitted and tried the new replacement.

Fixing the new ferrule
The new ferrule can then be pushed or twisted onto the bottom of the crutch or walker. To ensure the ferrule is tightly fitted, simply lean on the crutch or walker.
